Castro Valley Section Restoration (Zone 2) Castro Valley Creek/San Lorenzo Watershed The Castro Valley Creek Restoration project design included a “step-pool system,” using riffles, runs, and deep pools to provide a variety of habitats for different organisms. Native tree and plant species were planted along the channel’s inside banks to create more natural riparian habitat. A footbridge links a creekside path to the new Castro Valley Library.
